Can I rely on contactless card payment at chargers?

Not yet. AFIR rules mandate contactless on all new fast chargers above 50 kW from 2024 onwards, but most installed chargers predate this rule and many networks have been slow to retrofit. Treat contactless as a useful fallback, not your primary plan. Your main payment should still be a roaming app or the network's own app.
