One of the most exciting things about the whole EV market is that with each new zero-emission vehicle introduced, the industry standards move forward. However, sometimes, an EV car that completely changes the narrative and sets lofty goals for competitors is released. That happened in 2012 when the Tesla Model S revolutionised the performance sedan market, and again, in 2022, Lucid Air unleashed its incredible power and technology in the global market. There is a good reason why we are mentioning those two cars in this text. One of the chief engineers from Tesla, Peter Rawlinson, was one of the founding members of Lucid Motors. With his talented team of engineers, he decided to push the envelope even further with incredible and blisteringly fast Lucid Air. Lucid EV Models

The Lucid model range consists of a single model called Air, available in several trim levels and with different battery sizes and power train options. The Lucid Air, with its specific design language, is a proper luxury sedan filled with upscale materials and advanced features. The Lucid's designers paid much attention to aerodynamics in order to maximise the range, which is amongst the best in class. The Lucid Air is also surprisingly practical, with two luggage compartments (front and rear) and plenty of interior space. There are several trim levels: Pure, Touring, Grand Touring and Dream Edition, each offering a unique blend of luxury and practicality.

Lucid EV Technology

Even though the Lucid Air captures the imagination of EV fans with its elegant design and appearance, the real showstopper is its technology. Underneath the great-looking sedan body is the massive battery pack, and the Air is available with 88, 93, 112, or 118 kWh lithium-ion batteries. It can also be ordered with rear-wheel drive, single electric motor, all-wheel-drive dual motor, and AWD three-motor configuration. The overall power ranges from 430 hp to 1234 hp for the most potent version. Of course, the Lucid Air is capable of AC and DC charging and uses 800-volt architecture. When charged in AC mode, it can achieve a 22 kW rate, but when connected to a fast charging device, the Lucid Air can develop a 200 kW rate and charge 80% of the battery in just 25 minutes. Of course, the massive battery pack, advanced technology, and excellent aerodynamics all result in a surprisingly long range, and the company claims that Lucid Air can travel up to 580 km on a single charge.
