Italian giant Fiat has been one of the key players in the European automotive scene for over a century. Dedicated primarily to small and compact models, Fiat revolutionized the segment back in the day with classic models and modern times with the lineup of cool-looking, dependable, and very practical models that kept it afloat in turbulent economic times. Now, as a part of the Stellantis group and closely related to several major European car brands, Fiat has support to present its small car philosophy for the new EV era and once again be the definitive brand for people looking for affordable but fun battery-powered city cars. Even though the company presented its first EV in 2020, today, it has a comprehensive battery-powered vehicle range with big ambitions for the future. Fiat EV Models

As a champion of the compact car market, Fiat concentrated its EV efforts in that direction, starting with the 500e, an all-electric version of the popular Fiat 500 model. The next in line is the Fiat 600e, which is a slightly bigger crossover model with four doors and a more oversized luggage compartment. It is aimed at young families who use the car mostly in urban areas but need compact dimensions and more interior space. The newest addition to its exciting zero-emissions fleet is Fiat Grand Panda. It is a new generation of the famous Panda model, but it is now available as a hybrid or full EV model. It features a new design, more features, and, for the first time, a battery pack. However, let's not forget the tiny Topolino, Fiat's version of Citroen Ami. Even though it looks like the economic part of the market is covered, the company has announced even more models for the future. Fiat EV Technology

Since Fiat concentrates on small and affordable models, you cannot expect big and high-performance battery packs. However, this doesn't mean that Fiat models are not fun to drive; they are more inclined to improve range than acceleration figures. The smallest Fiat EV model is the Topolino, which has a diminutive body and a 5.4 kWh battery pack. However, the 500e, with a 42 kWh lithium-ion battery with 400 v architecture and reasonable charging times, can deliver up to 250 km of range. The Fiat 600e is even more capable with a more significant 54 kWh battery pack. The battery materials and technology are identical to 500e, but the result is more range (up to 310 km), which is an excellent feature for this family-oriented model. In its EV version, the Grande Panda is equipped with a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 45 kWh. The range is expected to be up to 260 km but with very quick charging times when a DC charger is used. Fiat claims it can top 80% of battery capacity in just 32 minutes.
